Leadership

Building Leaders: Mixing up the Ages

Worked with the Grade 5 students to lead the Grade 2 students in cooperative parachute games. It was a joy to see and support the older students taking the lead as teachers as they worked to develop their soft skils (creativity, empathy, and kindness). (OCDSB, 2023)

Indigo Adopt a School

Collaboration with Librarian

After our school was awarded a Indigo Adopt a School grant, I worked with my students to raise awareness and to build enthusiasm for the new books in our library! We worked on thank you letters, book talks, and a media literacy unit where the students made book posters. (OCDSB, 2023)

Coding with music

Coding with Music

Over the course of our coding unit, I directed the grade 4/5 students to program our musical performance for the learning showcase. It started as a four beat rhythm on the drums that grew into a full performance! Have a listen! (OCDSB, 2022)

The Well Teacher

Teacher Wellness

I won this book at a conference and took it out after losing my voice in my first practicum. I became very interested in finding and practicing sustainable teaching. (uOttawa, 2022)

Communnity Building Circle

Community Building Circle

Connecting through circles! I worked with my class to build unity, trust, and friendship. The circle became an effective tool in celebrating, problem solving, critical thinking, social justice, and restorative practices.

(OCDSB, 2022)

Mindfullness

Mindfulness

Learning and being human. Introduced concepts of mindfulness through body break activities such as breathing exercises, colouring, singing, chair yoga, 5 point scales, and meditation. Some of my favourite exercises for children include Jelly Belly and Spaghetti Toes! (OCDSB, 2022)

Bordenball

Bordenball

What a joy to have sports back in schools! I learned about bordenball and coached recess games for the junior grades. (OCDSB, 2022)
